Lantern Making Workshop
Catbrook Memorial Hall
SUNDAY 21 November 2021
2pm (till approx 4-4.30 pm)
There will be a lantern making workshop at Catbrook Memorial Hall on Sunday 21 November. Mark your diary!
Due to Covid distancing booking at the session will be for adults or teens only in the first instance (one person to each table area) and you will make one (or more than one maybe!) lantern - and will know how to make more with your family at home if everyone would like one!
(If we have space we will also be able to welcome up to one seated child with each adult. Sorry no tinies or buggys etc. this time and childrens places subject to adult demand).
There will be a small charge for refreshments, little or no charge for the class and materials.
What do I need to provide?
The basis for each lantern is a clean, clear colourless, 2 litre drink bottle with all labels removed. (Aldi have something very suitable containing still water for 17p). Please save your bottles and bring to the session with you. (Anyone not coming to the session who has such bottles spare please deliver to the post box at the back door of Ty Gwyn. Any unused will be recycled.)
After the session you will probably like to have your lantern held aloft on a bamboo cane.
When can you use your lanterns?
There are several events where you can use your lantern:
Friday 3rd December Monmouth Christmas lantern parade.
Saturday 11 December Event subject to confirmation Tintern Carol singing.
And most importantly Sunday 19 December there will be carol singing outside in Catbrook and Broadstone when we hope LOTS of lanterns will be present!
